Well, now ya done got me stumped. Guess I better make up something good on this one! LOL Just kidding, Joe. I jest a lot (read some of my previous posts), but I don't mean nothing by it.
Anyway, the trick with plugs is to find one that burns fuel in the most efficient manner, and that is why they come in different heat ranges. (This is a broad explanation, but it covers the basics) If your carb is running a little on the rich side, and after tinkering with it you still can't get it just right, a hotter plug would help. You want to go with what I call the "Three Bears" setup: not too hot, not too cold, just right (can you tell I have children?) Too cold and the plug will foul alot. Too hot and you will run lean, which we all know is not good.
This is one of those "tinker time" questions....you have to tinker and it takes time....to get things just right. Try cleaning/replacing the air filter and adjusting the air mixture screw on your carb. That may do the trick. If that doesn't work, go with a one step up hotter plug, which should burn the fuel better, and start the tinker process all over again.
